Professor Song Junde

  Professor Song Junde was born in Hebei province, China. He graduated from the Radio Engineering Department, Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications (BUPT). Professor Song contributes a lot to China’s communication industry. He is now respected as:

Main Teaching and Researching work

1)        VLSI design and CAD technology

He participated in China’s five-year technology tackle key plan of ICCAD for three times. He completed China’s self-developed “ICCAD second grade system” and “ICCAD third grade system—panda system”. Because of his contribution in this field, he was awarded:

Ÿ           first prize of National Science and Technology Progress Prize, the highest prize in China

Ÿ           First and second prize of Science and Technology Progress by Chinese Education Ministry

Ÿ           First prize of Science and Technology Progress by Electronic Ministry

Ÿ           Second and third prize of Science and Technology Progress by Posts and Telecommunications Ministry.

Ÿ           First prize by Higher Education Teaching Material Ministry for his book “VLSI and System Design Introduction”

2)        CTI technology

He began the research in CTI and CRM technology, cooperating with Dialogic Company and establishing “BUPT-Dialogic CTI R&D Center”, as a director of the lab. At the same time, he committed himself to the extension of CTI technology in China and designed CTN network for HuaXia Network Company in China, using VPN. The main researching work includes Programmable Switching System, large-scale Information Service System, Value-Added Service System and Call Center.

During the recent years, he has been teaching CTI and mobile wireless Internet technology principle and application all over China.

He has given a course “CTI Technology Principle and Practice” to graduate students. Since 1998, he has recruited and cultivated Doctors studying CTI technology.

3)        Communication System Theory and Design

In 1998 and 2002, he was mainly devoted to the researching work of wireless communication system, wireless access system, cellular mobile communication and personal communication. Presently, he mainly works on mobile communication network management, network optimization and frequency planning, 3G and B3G mobile communication and software radio and coverage of WLAN&3G. The main project origins come from National Science Fund Committee (NSFC), important projects of Posts and Telecommunications Ministry and international cooperation projects.

During the recent years, he has written 12 books and teaching materials (some were co-written), such as:

Ÿ           “The 2nd /3rdGeneration Mobile Communication System”

Ÿ           “Wireless Access System Design” (Broadband Wireless Access Network)

Ÿ           “Wireless Access Technology Theory and Application”

He has made key note speeches and presided over many international meetings and published 137 papers in key publications, such as:

Ÿ           Chairman of the organizing committee of SPIE95 Light and Wireless Communication Conference (San Diego U.S.A 1995).

Ÿ           IFIP Conference in the United States, as the president on China’s side of IFIP TC7 (May,1997).

Ÿ           Chairman of “Worldwide Wireless Telephone and Access Technology Conference” (Beijing 96, Shanghai 98).

Ÿ           Chairman of Program Committee for FTC&FTW (1999~2005)

  Professor Song has long been devoted to CTI technology, VLSI CAD, mobile telecommunication, wireless access and researching of Internet. In 1992, as the deputy director of Cernet(China Education & Research Internet) Arranging Group, he participated in the design of Cernet and the standardization of Chinese wireless access system and 2/2.5/3 generation of mobile communication system.

In addition, he has visited 32 foreign countries including Holland, Swiss, France, India, Canada and Thailand, etc. mainly for teaching and co-researching purpose. He has been cooperating with Ericcson in mobile communication, mobile digital communication of international cooperation project, 4G, BWMI. He is also the dean of the software research institute of Bright Oceans Corporation (BOCO) and Chief Scientist and consultant of many companies, such as KONKA, Beijing CBD, Donjin Technology, etc.

 

Currently, his research interests include

1)        Research and development of WLAN, WiFi, WiMAX, and 3G&B3G systems

2)        Convergence and roaming between WLAN, 3G and B3G

3)        Integrated 3G services access platform.

4)        Service convergence between fixed and wireless network and development of new services.
