Introduction

China has grown to be the biggest smartphone market in the world thanks to its recent economic expansion and commercial 4G services launch by China Mobile on December 18 last year, under the brand name "He" ('harmonious' in Chinese).

The capabilities and complexity of mobile user equipment continues to increase, however, with highly complex multi-band multi-mode radios, faster network connections, larger/brighter screens and growing always-on use-cases, battery life remains a significant challenge for Smartphones.

This workshop will highlight new and emerging use-cases for tablets, smartphones and wearable accessories. Global experts will debate numerous architectural and material innovations for improving power efficiency, including RF Front end systems and partitioning, envelope tracking and smart PA technology trade-offs, platform power management and more.

Workshop Goals

  • Identify requirements for multi-mode multi-band devices
  • Assess the impact of VoLTE, RCS and always-connected use-cases
  • Explore innovative solutions which improve power efficiency
