Goals of Workshop

As the industry looks to deploy 4G LTE, there is consensus amongst the global operator community that small cells will be an increasingly important and arguably essential network element.  However, the key to acceptance of these new technologies and systems will depend heavily on an operators ability to simplify the implementation of small cell deployments so that they can be cost-effectively integrated with existing legacy and macro networks.

There remain numerous unanswered questions, which may differ from region to region, including concern surrounding planning issues (site location, power, etc.) for metro-cell deployments and backhaul.

This workshop will identify the key challenges operators will face in deploying small cells and will consider how the industry plans to address these as well as the demand for 4G, 3G, Wi-Fi and small cell backhaul.

  • Assessing cost-effective business models and small cell deployment scenarios
  • Exploring intelligent traffic management for 4G, 3G and Wi-Fi integration
  • Backhaul challenges and opportunities
