Introduction

IoT is a small acronym covering a plethora of use-cases and business opportunities, however, it is in itself too broad to discuss in any detail and is arguably at the peak of its hype cycle.

Connected cars may now be considered an integral part of the Internet of Things (IoT), however, beyond infotainment and smartphone integration, what part will cloud, V2X and V2V play in highly automated or autonomous vehicles?

IoT use-cases range from low power, small payload rural connectivity to high bandwidth mission critical communications, but which verticals will move beyond the hype curve to become mass market opportunities and which connectivity standards will prevail?

Agenda

Assessing energy harvesting technologies, enhanced coverage for smart metering, fire alarms, sensor networks
  • How can LTE meet M2M demands due to its low coverage and high cost equipment?
  • Assessing UE demands, constraints and roadmaps to support IoT
  • Assessing connectivity technical issues, including data content, security, anonymization, and transmission accuracy
  • Which wireless technologies will dominate the sector?
  • Assessing co-existence challenges between WiFi and LTE, etc.
  • Assessing the different connectivity use-cases, options and requirements
  • Where does OneM2M figure in the overall standards debate? Which standards are suited to each segment? Alljoyn, Open Interconnect Consortium (OIC), Industrial Internet Consortium (IIC)
  • Will security demand hardware encryption or will software security be adequate?
  • Assessing architectures to support communication and power efficiency
