Introduction
T-Mobile and its partners have conducted tests and trials in which SA and Non-Standalone 5G devices operated with active sessions at the same time, in the same cell, which means preparing the world for standalone 5G. Having launched 5G late last year using its 600 MHz spectrum, which now covers more than 200 million people and more than 5,000 locations around the U.S. This workshop will assess device status and evolution through co-existence with LTE and Non-Standalone towards Standalone 5G user equipment and CPE.
Workshop Goals
• Assess current 5G user equipment and explore specialized 5G NR devices and services, concept development and enablement of specialized 5G NR devices
• Understand the transition from LTE with VoLTE to 5G NR with EPS-FB to all services over NR
• Examine new specialized service development and new 5G UE form factor development such as Industrial-IoT, Critical Communications, Mobilized Enterprise Application, etc.
• Considering global 5G NR device interoperability and roaming
• Explore multi-band (24, 28, 39 & 47 GHz) implementation and performance
• Understand propagation, RFFE and antenna challenges
• Assess opportunities of mmW RF component energy efficiency enhancements, volume use-cases for mmWave radio
